If I haven’t mentioned this before, I will tell you now that I am from the Philippines. This is relevant to this post because 3 days ago, a typhoon has hit the southern part of our country and left it in a horrible state. Typhoon Sendong (Washi) has claimed almost a thousand lives of the Filipino people living in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City.

Upon watching the news, it breaks my heart to see my fellow countrymen suffering from this calamity. Their homes are wrecked, their loved ones are missing and some of them are already dead. What breaks my heart the most is that most of them are kids. One week before Christmas and this is what they get.

I just want to ask my readers to help these people stand up once again after what they had just experienced. Please include them in your prayers and if you can give or donate anything, like old clothes, canned goods, ready-to-eat food, etc., it would be a great help for the typhoon victims.

For all Facebook users out there, I know you’ve already heard of this game. Tetris Battle is one of the newest and most addicting game on Facebook today. I’m not here to tell you how to get your ranks up or give winning strategies and techniques on Tetris Battle because I’m not a pro, but only to tell you what is Tetris Battle.

Tetris Battle is almost just like any other Tetris game where in you try to clear the lines by building the blocks, but in Tetris Battle, a twist has been added.

In Tetris Battle, you can now play with other users and your friends. And that’s not the best part. For every line you clear, there is a corresponding equivalent line that will add up to your opponent. If your opponent will not be able to clear all the lines, he will be knocked out. What is ‘knocked out‘, you ask? When you knocked your opponent out, all the lines you sent him/her will be cleared, but you already have a winning point because you knocked him out first. Don’t get too excited because the game isn’t over.

Your opponent can still beat you if he can knock you out too and send more lines to you. The game lasts for only 2 minutes. After that, the winner will be announced.

Tetris Battle also keeps track of your wins and loses. Every time you win, you earn a star or even 2 stars and you rank up for every 5 stars. But here’s the catch, for every game that you lose, you also lose a star. So if you want to maintain or increase your rank, you need to win as much as possible.

This is just an overview of the whole Tetris Battle on Facebook. There are still many options that you can explore when you play the game. You can play with more than one opponent, you can also play alone, etc.

My semester from school just ended and now, I have 3 weeks off from school. It’s only day 2 of my 3-week-vacation and I just really want this vacation to be a not-so-boring one. Since I don’t want to spend the next 3 weeks wasting my time in front of the computer alone, I’ve decided to research on some DIY projects that I could do during my vacation. I know there are a lot of websites that provide DIY projects, but I know what you’re thinking. If you’re just a student (without allowance because there’s no class like me), those DIY projects seem to be a bit pricey with all the materials needed, right? Lady Antebellum, one of the most popular country music groups in the history, has been invited to perform on Saturday Night Live. This invitation is quite a big thing for them because it’s not always that the comedy show invites country singers. So far, only Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill and Keith Urban have represented Nashville in Saturday Night Live.

The country superstars will perform on the 37th season of the comedy show and will be hosted by Jessica McCarthy. The new season of SNL will start on the 24th of September which will be hosted by Alec Baldwin. But Lady Antebellum will perform on their October 1, 2011 episode.

“I think being backstage and hopefully having conversations with a couple of those actors that are just hysterical, their timing is just so great, [it] would be a lot of fun,” said Hillary Scott, lead background and vocals of Lady Antebellum, when she was interviewed in a radio station last year. “And not to mention everybody watches it, you know.“
